The free session

What you walk away with

Plain answers about your own numbers, online on Teams or at our Brampton office. You keep the notes, and there is nothing to sign.

  1. A clear 2026 pay plan. How much salary and how much dividend to take, decided before the 31 December deadline instead of after it.
  2. A check on the money sitting in your corporation. Whether its investment income is getting close to the level that starts to shrink the small business limit, and what the options are.
  3. A one-page picture of your family's side. Roughly what would reach your family from the corporation today, and where the gaps are.
  4. A short list of questions for your lawyer. For example, whether a separate will for your company shares makes sense in Ontario.

What we see most often with incorporated doctors

You run a practice all day. Your corporation needs a plan too.

Four common problems, and what we do about each one.

  1. The problem

Last year's pay mix just happened.

Salary or dividends changes your personal tax, your RRSP room and your CPP. Once 31 December passes, the 2026 choice is mostly made.

    The solution

A 2026 pay plan, made in time

We go through the mix with you before year-end and put the plan on one page.

  2. The problem

Savings keep building up in the corporation.

Once the corporation earns more than $50,000 of investment income in a year, its small business limit starts to shrink. At $150,000 it is gone.

    The solution

A check on your corporate investments

We show you where you stand against that level and explain the options in plain words.

  3. The problem

Nobody has mapped what your family would get.

Shares in a corporation are taxed at death, and without a plan the same money can be taxed twice on its way to your family.

    The solution

    A one-page estate picture

We sketch what would reach your family today and list the questions to take to your lawyer.

  4. The problem

    Year-end turns into a scramble.

Your T2 is due six months after year-end, but tax owing is usually due sooner, often two or three months after year-end.

    The solution

    Year-end, T2 and T1 on one calendar

We prepare your corporate year-end, T2 and personal T1 on a schedule, so you know your dates ahead of time.

Questions doctors ask us

Straight answers.

General information only. Every situation is different, so we go through your own numbers in the session.

Is the session really free?

Yes. There is no cost and no obligation. You leave with your notes whether or not you ever become a client.

How does the 50% off work?

Send us the most recent invoice from your accountant. We quote the same services (corporate year-end, T2 and personal T1) at 50% off that fee, in writing, before you decide. It is for new incorporated doctor clients who sign up by 31 December 2026.

Should I pay myself salary or dividends?

It depends on you. Salary is deducted by the corporation, creates RRSP room and comes with CPP contributions, which build a CPP pension. Dividends come from after-tax corporate income, do not create RRSP room and have no CPP. Many doctors use a mix. The right mix depends on your income, what you spend, how you save and your family, which is why we look at your numbers rather than give a rule.

Why does 31 December matter so much?

Salary counts in the year it is paid. For 2026 salary, that means paid by 31 December 2026. Once the year closes, the 2026 mix is mostly set, and planning can only change 2027.

My corporation holds a lot of investments. Is that a problem?

It can be. When a corporation earns more than $50,000 of investment income in a year, the small business limit for the following year starts to shrink, and at $150,000 it is gone. That can raise the tax on your practice income. We check where you stand and explain the general options.

Can my spouse or family share in the corporation's income?

Ontario lets certain family members hold shares in a medicine professional corporation, but federal tax on split income rules limit when paying them dividends helps. Whether it works for you depends on the facts, so we treat it as a question for the session, not a promise.

Do I need to charge HST?

Most insured medical services are exempt from HST. Some work can be taxable, for example certain reports for insurers or lawyers, or cosmetic services. Once your taxable sales pass $30,000 over four consecutive quarters, you generally have to register. We check what you bill.

What does estate planning mean here? Is it legal advice?

No, it is tax and estate planning, not legal advice. We look at what would happen to your corporation and its shares if you died, roughly what would reach your family, and where the same money could be taxed twice. Wills and trusts are drafted by your lawyer. We give you a short list of questions to take to them and can work with them if you want.

Will you try to sell me insurance?

No. Chirag is also licensed to sell life insurance through WealthPillar Inc. If disability, critical illness or life insurance is relevant, he will say so, tell you how he is paid and do a needs analysis first. You never have to buy anything.

How do I protect the practice if I can't work?

If you are off sick, billings stop but rent, staff and loan payments keep coming. Disability insurance can replace part of your personal income, business overhead expense insurance can help with the practice's fixed costs, and corporate-owned life insurance can help the corporation and your family if you die. Which of these you need depends on what you already have. Chirag is licensed to sell life insurance through WealthPillar and is paid by commission if you buy, so he will tell you that first. Read the WealthPillar guide to key person insurance.

Do you work with doctors outside Brampton?

Yes. We work with doctors in Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon, Oakville, Toronto and nearby, online on Teams or in person at our Brampton office.

What should I bring?

Your last accounting bill if you want a quote, and your most recent corporate financial statements if they are handy. Please don't send SINs, banking details or tax documents by email, text or WhatsApp.
